News: iTunes Festival Popping Up on Apple TV Early

As reported by Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac, it seems Apple wanted to make sure everyone had their iTunes Festival app before September 1.  iTunes Festival is an annual music festival at London’s Roundhouse.  Just like last year, the festival is streamed live and on-demand via an iOS app, iTunes, or the Apple TV.  If it’s not appearing right away, the Apple TV just needs a restart, much like the Hulu Plus update last month…

News: Federighi & Riccio Become Senior VPs, Mansfield to Stay

After news back in June that Apple’s senior vice president of engineering, Bob Mansfield, was retiring, it seems he’s not, but will actually take on a new role at the company. Additionally, a press release from the company shares that Craig Federighi and Dan Riccio, two vice presidents of engineering, will be bumped to senior vice presidents, joining the executive management team…

In the wake of Samsung’s huge patent trial loss, a number of media outlets are jumping to speculation mode. There already is the notion that Apple will simply be litigating all the time since it has money and won once. I’m not so sure about that.

MG Siegler muses on the idea of using an iPad as a primary travel computer. I often take just my iPad, and maybe an Apple Wireless Keyboard/Incase Origami combo when I hit the road to visit family and other times I only need a bit more than my iPhone:

While this may not sound like a big deal — I’m hardly the first to do this — consider that I’m a heavy, heavy computer user. In particular, I write a lot. Blog posts, emails, tweets, etc. The iPad is not supposed to be good at those things. It’s not supposed to be able to replace a laptop for people like me. And yet, it is.
