by on July 16, 2011

In what might be one of the last few builds of iOS 4, Apple released iOS 4.3.4 for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 (GSM), iPod touch, and iPad users, and 4.2.9 for the iPhone 4 (CDMA). This update fixes a PDF security hole, which allows unauthorized software to run on these devices and includes a few other changes.

The fix is said to include the following:

This update contains changes to the iOS crowd-sourced location database cache including:

  • Disabled the possibility of viewing a maliciously crafted PDF file that may lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution
  • Disabled a malicious code running as the user may gain system privileges
  • Re-introduces the ability to cancel and delete apps that are currently downloading

The most notable change is killing the ability to jailbreak via Safari.
