News: Apple Releases iOS 5.0.1

by on November 10, 2011

Hoping to quiet some controversy, Apple has released iOS 5.0.1, an update which fixes some bugs, namely the poor battery performance on various iOS devices. Additionally, it adds support for multi-touch gestures on the original iPad.

The fix is said to include the following:

  • Fixes bugs affecting battery life
  • Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
  • Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
  • Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation

The update is for all devices that can run iOS 5 (iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, iPod touch (3rd & 4th Generation), and iPad (original and 2). We’d recommend getting the over-the-air update through Settings, as it seems to be in the 39-50MB range and only patches the prior install, as opposed to the 700MB+ download via iTunes.
