News: iOS 4.2 Golden Master to Developers

by on November 1, 2010

It didn’t take Apple long at all—when iOS 4.2 was shown off in September, Apple stated a November release date. Although it’s not in our hands yet, developers are now receiving copies of the Golden Master versions of the software. Often, the Golden Master build is identical to the final copy that goes out to consumers, and is released a week or two early.

The version, which brings AirPrint, AirPlay, and iPad compatibility is a major one, especially if you are an iPad or second-generation Apple TV owner. From what we’re told, iOS 4.2 requires iTunes 10.1 (which is not available yet) and the Apple TV may need an update, too. We’re guessing that within the next week or two, Apple will be releasing the set of software updates, potentially fixing the bug and beating the daylight savings time change in the United States.
