News: Starbucks Pick of the Week Expands Today

Here’s one for the many people who are always looking for a deal—Starbucks is expanding its Pick of the Week program, which we first heard about last week. Today was the first day, and thanks to the free cards with redeem-through-iTunes codes, you can get a copy of Shazam Encore, a $5.99 app, for free.

Obviously, this requires you, or someone you know visiting a Starbucks, but since most of these cards are left around for awhile, you can probably stock up on a few past weeks’ worth of freebies in one visit. Still, even with some of the cheaper menu items, you come out ahead if you were planning on buying a particular app.

Pick of the Week

Next week looks to be SPY mouse, a game by Firemint (they’re known for Flight Control). Additionally, Starbucks and Apple will be teaming up to offer other types of content:

You asked and we listened. Our Pick of the Week program is getting a facelift! Starting on August 23rd, you’ll notice something new about the Pick of the Week cards: they’re not just music. We’ve expanded our free music download cards to also include Apps, extended samples of books on the iBookstore, TV shows, and more from iTunes.

The Pick of the Week program has been going on for a little over three years and most cards have a window of about two months before the codes expire.
