News: Ping to Shut Down on September 30

After two years, Apple will be discontinuing the Ping service on September 30. The service has been languishing for awhile, and was hurt from the beginning because of no Facebook integration. A message was posted on the Ping section of iTunes stating the decision.

It would be nice to say it had a good run, but it really didn’t. With the integration of Facebook into Apple’s various digital stores in iOS 6, the writing was on the wall from the betas.
