Review: iSkin ProTouch
The iSkin ProTouch Keyboard Protector is a molded, silicone ‘layer’ that fits over the keys of any Apple Pro Keyboard. Protecting your keyboard from gunk, hair, dust, and spills, installation and removal are painless. Typing and use are not inhibited.
Colors
The protectors come in a variety of colors. You can also get them in blue mist (light blue), abyss (darker blue), aqua (aqua), bubble gum (pink), lemonade (yellow), cherry pop (red), lime light (light green), white frost (clear).

Cleaning
The best part…well…one of the best parts is that no adhesive is required to attach it. Installation is as easy as laying it over the keys. Removal is just as easy. Cleaning is easy, too – just use water and mild dishwashing solution (NO SOLVENTS!).
Feel and Use
The iSkin ProTouch Keyboard Protector generally fits quite well over the Apple Pro Keyboard. There is some space between the cover and arrow keys and some of the keys on the numeric keypad. The material is fairly transparent but this gap makes a few of these keys a bit difficult to read. The cover has a nice feel to it while typing. After using the cover for several weeks I had the opportunity to type on another keyboard and it felt very slippery.
The one thing that might concern users (at least of new Macs, or those with the Bluetooth keyboards), is that the layout is only for the Apple Pro Keyboards. Those who have the ‘Apple Keyboards’ which come with most, of not all of the new desktops Macs may not be able to use the iSkin (since the layout of the function keys is slightly different.
The iSkin ProTouch does a good job of protecting the keys from dust and any spills. Although it may seem pricey at around $35, it is a lot less than a new keyboard, and in the ease of cleaning your keyboard makes it worth the price. Overall it is a very satisfactory product. Long term durability of the iSkin is still a question only time will answer. It has only been in use for about a month. Let’s see what it looks like in a year or two.
