Snippet: A Drive Into the Gap ☇

It seems that the simple, yet elegant notebooks by Field Notes have a bit of a following in the design community. Besides the various standard styles, they released a limited-edition baseball-themed set this summer, Day Game. Included in this set is A Drive into the Gap by Kevin Guilfoile, a heartfelt and engaging story centered around baseball and family:

A Drive into the Gap is a true story about fathers and sons, baseball and memory, and the improbable journey of a bat from one of the most iconic moments in the history of the game to the bedroom of a 12-year-old boy.

Even though it is a bit of a quick read, it’s highly enjoyable and very well-written diversion. If you don’t want the whole Day Game set, the roughly-70-page book is also available by itself for $6.95 or in iBooks or Kindle formats for $1.99
