Snippet: Apple TV More Popular Than Xbox 360 ☇

Shared on July 25, 2012

I saw this in passing yesterday, and decided it was worth pointing out. Todd Bishop of GeekWire points out that Apple sold 1.3 million Apple TVs last quarter, while Microsoft sold 1.1 million. That’s pretty amazing considering the Apple TV has had no advertising and not a whole lot of mindshare. Still, it’s interesting to think about the growth potential of the little squared off hockey puck:

Apple still has a long way to go in the bigger picture. So far this fiscal year (spanning three quarters) the company has sold 4 million Apple TVs, according to [Apple CEO Tim] Cook. Over the same time period, including the big holiday shopping season, Microsoft has sold more than 10 million Xbox 360.
