Snippet: Tiny Screen Mode ☇

Shared on October 2, 2013

Stefan Constantinescu for Android Beat explains a hidden mode to help one-handed operation on the Galaxy Note 3 (via The Loop):

When you enable a buried option in the one-hand operating menu, you can enable a “tiny screen” mode with a simple swipe gesture. Like Alice in Wonderland, what you see on your Note 3′s display suddenly becomes smaller and you’re effectively using Android as if it were a windowed application on your desktop computer.

Although I understand that this does have some handy edge use cases, it just seems to defeat the whole purposes of having a monstrosity like the Note 3. It also reminds me of people who watch standard definition content on an HDTV with pillarboxes and letterboxes visible at the same time.
