Snippet: Do Not Disturb and the Ring/Silent Switch in iOS 6 ☇

Shared on September 25, 2012

Iljitsch van Beijnum looks at the usefulness of iOS 6’s new Do Not Disturb mode and how it interacts with the ring/silent switch for Ars Technica:

Still, I expect that the somewhat subtle differences between the DND and R/S switch behaviors will be lost on most iPhone users. The likely result will be that people will still be disturbed more than they like, or unintentionally miss calls and notifications.

I agree with what a lot of what he is saying, but I’d also like to give iPhone users just a bit more credit—after maybe a misused alarm or other function, they’ll understand how the two can be used in different scenarios.
