Snippet: New Mac Pro Not So New? ☇

Shared on June 12, 2012

Although we complained about the very minor update for the aging Mac Pro, it seems that the backlash from the people that really need all that power was a lot more to the point that Apple got a lot of emails. Apple CEO Tim Cook responded to one to assure everyone that things would be fine:

Thanks for your email. Our Pro customers like you are really important to us. Although we didn’t have a chance to talk about a new Mac Pro at today’s event, don’t worry as we’re working on something really great for later next year. We also updated the current model today.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks Apple did the minor update yesterday to test the waters for a market for new Mac Pros. The realist in me thinks they had to switch chips due to supply reasons. I think it’s good that there was word from Apple on this, as business who buy Mac Pros typically treat this purchase much differently than things like iMacs, MacBooks, or iPads.
