Given Apple’s ad budget, the entire observable universe is aware what the new-model iPhones are called, and there’s simply no reason not to accurately reflect that in release notes. Not doing so makes the notes worse, and at the end of that particular road is a sign that just says, “Bugs fixed.”

This whole exchange with Apple is absurd, especially as the names of all three new iPhones have been circulated around the internet plenty over the last two weeks. I understand Apple is probably being cautious in case there is some issue where the XR won’t ship, but if it’s prominently displayed on your web site, wouldn’t you rather developers work to get things ready sooner than later?
