Brent Caswell originally shared his thoughts in The Verge’s forums, but later expanded it in a post on The Tech Block explaining how Apple could easily add a few more handy features without compromising simplicity or usability:

What isn’t very straightforward is the lockscreen. I set out to make the lockscreen flexible and open to the apps on your device, without throwing everything that works really well out the window.

Caswell also provides a number of excellent mockups to demonstrate his point. Maybe Apple should hire this guy.
