Snippet: Why Mailbox Won’t Fix Your Email ☇

Shared on February 20, 2013

Ben Brooks recently handed over the keys to The Brooks Review to Pat Dryburgh, and Pat has some interesting ideas regarding email organization:

I’ve never understood why some people let email have such a strong effect on their mental and emotional well-being. I strive for Inbox Zero as much as the next guy, but the 12 emails sitting there now that I’ve yet to deal with aren’t causing me stress. Why? Because I don’t let them.

I used to be that way, too. Ever since I took my work email off of my personal devices, I’ve been a bit less stressed, especially since I can reach Inbox Zero on a more regular basis—at least for this site and personal emails. I think with my next work email cleanup, I may move to a more inbox/archive format and use OS X’s rather good email search. Folders are so 2007.
